He came from Alabama with nothin on his knee
no money, no shame, quite frankly no place to be
and he started drinking a lot and building his philosophy
he been runnin on the road since the age of 15, ten years before he met me
by then he knew how life was and how overwhelming it can be
he grew up fast and toughened up quick and developed a bad habit
cuz its easy to get stuck on the streets, and get caught up in reality
insanity becomes routine as well as introspective happenings
I'm not saying that it's a bad thing unless you're trying to keep yer nose clean and test how sheltered a person can be
lemme tell you this world can be worse than you think
we met him in Manitou Springs, Colorado
when he was runnin from the police and we got to
kick it for about a week, then we didn't see him again until
we saw him again
which just so happened to be, 3 months later right before New Years Eve
we went 12 deep to Syke's hot springs where we stayed for about 2 weeks
Then we hitched it to a town called SLO, where
we put on a belligerent show
the kids didn't like us so they ran us out of town
sayin' that we'd get beat down
Eventually we made it to SB, where
the locals took a liking to me
until I chose to yell at security
guys with guns had to come detain me
We booked it to Ventura which we heard was the shit
the first thing I did was have a bad salvia trip
the next we were with two drunk, angry chicks, one of which
decided to hit me in the face with a bag of chips
Keep in mind that this whole time, this guy was standing right by my side
I don't think there was a sober night and his
permanent frown was starting to bring me down
cuz its easy to get stuck on the streets, and get caught up in reality
insanity becomes routine as well as introspective happenings
and im not saying that it's a bad thing but if you're still trying to keep yer nose clean, all I can tell ya is
that someone's negative energy can really take a toll on yer psyche
